The Red Ensign with a six-pointed Commonwealth Star and a Southern Cross with varying star points (9, 8, 7, 6, and 5) was the Australian Red Ensign used from 1901 to 1903. In 1903, the design was officially changed to have four stars with seven points and one with five points in the Southern Cross, while the Commonwealth Star remained at six points.
